Creating and posting on this blog has been a great experience for me. Not only is the topic of my blog the very thing I want to do in the future, but it’s helping me get practice and sharpen my music skills. I’m very grateful to the Fundamentals of Digital and Online Media course in the communications program at Texas State University for giving me this assignment. Not only did I enjoyed the freedom of the blog, but the creative outlet it gave me.

One improvement I could make within my site includes writing a “behind the scenes” post for every topic post I make. For example, the blog post I created over “The Perks of Being A Wallflower” is my favorite movie I’ve created a soundtrack for so far. Because of this, I would create a ‘behind the scenes’ post talking about why I enjoyed it, how I went about picking songs, and the way I feel about the soundtrack I’ve created. By doing this I feel like it would let my readers know more about the process while also giving them an insight on how much I enjoy the work.
A great way I could’ve promoted my blog outside of twitter would’ve been creating flyers to put up around local establishments that are famous for having live music. By doing this It would’ve attracted people that have an appreciation for music and creativity. I could’ve also gone further and asked local places to play the soundtracks I’ve created through their speakers.
Before I created the “The Perks of Being A Wallflower” soundtrack I was looking for a good movie that would give me lots of ideas for song choices. When I remembered this movie I was instantly excited because it had been so long since I had seen it. The movie is essentially about a high school freshman that is taken under two seniors wings learning the ropes of high school, friendships, and love. While I was creating this soundtrack I was having great days with some of my best friends; making choosing songs that fit the scenes of the movie so easy. To this day, I still listen to the soundtracks I made because it gives me so much happiness and pride.
This experience could help me in many ways. Since I did my blog over the profession music supervision, which is what I want to do, it gives me a sort of portfolio to present to potential future employers. Not only does this experience provide me with a portfolio, but it also gives me practice for the future as well.
Ever since I started this blog, I’ve been consistently looking for new music to give myself a wider range to choose from when I’m making a soundtrack. Being a music supervisor means many different people constantly asking for their music to be featured in the project the supervisor is working on. This means rigorous amounts of new music to listen to; to see if it would be a better fit than what they had in mind. I started looking for new music to give myself that same experience. Because of this, I’ll come in with a huge library of music to contribute; therefore helping me in the future.
My most popular week for views and visits was the week of February 24, 2020 to March 1, 2020 with a total of 42 views and 10 visitors. My most popular post of the semester was my Coraline Soundtrack post with 30 views in total. I was surprised at this, because I thought my post on The Perks of Being A Wallflower would’ve been the most popular. However, as Coraline is progressively becoming a more popular movie, it makes sense it would be the most viewed post of mine.
